The Journey of a Non-Horsey Guy

This all began when my girlfriend kept bugging me for a horse. Eventually I gave in and we bought a clydesdale x standardbred called Millie. This all began in June 2004 and although I was there when Millie was unloaded off the float to what has now been her home for 3 years I didn't really spend much time at the agistment or take a big interest. This wasnt purely by choice, it had to do with my disability, distance, safety and the lack of a car.

This is us the day Millie arrived

As you can see by the photo I am half man/half car. This is the only way I can really get around. I have a disease that I was born with called "Fibrodysplasia Ossificans Progressiva", you might want to google that one :)

With limited movement and most of my joints fused, riding a horse is not something I will ever be doing. I also don't really enjoy being part of anything unless I can be helpful in some way. After many months we eventually found a safer route to travel the 40 minute trip from home to the agistment. I say 40 minutes because we dont have a car, if we did it would be a 5 minute drive. My electric scooter is more powerful and larger than most on the market and one of the most reliable scooters I have owned in 15 years. And this is what I use to drive us to the agistment and back each day Jodi wants to go and ride. The route is full of hilly roads mostly unsealed. Some say we're crazy and others admire the dedication as we do this at least 3 times a week in all weather.

Here are some photos taken over the past 3 years of the things we see on our way to and from home.
